Communications  Nanning has the geographical advantages of adjoining rivers, seas and borders and possesses the advanced three-dimensional transportation network of airway, railway, highway and waterway. It is 172km from Fangchenggang Port, 204km from Beihai Port, 104km from Qinzhou Port and 200km from the strategic Youyiguan Pass in the Sino-Vietnam border.

Aviation   Nanning Wuxu International Airport is a national 4D grade airport. At present, there are more than 20 international and domestic airlines respectively to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Hanoi etc. It is 32km from the downtown via the expressway. Regular passenger-carrying buses are conveniently available everyday between the airport and the downtown in the Aviation Ticket Office nearby the Railway Station, hotels and other authorized ticket offices.

Railway   Nanning Railway Station was built in February of 1951. It is a multi-functional and comprehensive station backing with passenger-cargo transportation and integrating with extended services, accommodation, food and beverage, trade and business, short distance automobile transportation etc. At present, passenger trains starting from Nanning can lead to the cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xi'an, Chengdu, Kunming, Zhengzhou, Nanchang, Zhangjiajie etc.. International train can directly lead to Dong Dang of Vietnam.

Highway  The highway network of Nanning City comprises of national highways, provincial highways and expressways that are convenient, high-efficient and closely inter-related leading to all counties and cities of Guangxi and major cities of China. The present longest expressway of Guangxi in China – Guilin-Beihai Expressway sets its nodal point in Nanning City. The nearest passage to the sea for the Southwest China --- Nanning-Hechi (Shuiren) Expressway was opened to traffic in September of 2004, connecting Guizhou and Sichuan. The expressways respectively to Youyiguan Pass, an important place in the Sino-Vietnam border, and to Baise are under construction. In addition, the expressway from Nanning to Guangzou is also under construction.

Waterway  Yujiang River that runs through Nanning City is converged from Zuojiang River and Youjiang River at Sanjiangkou on the upper stream, where the section running through the city proper to Bachijiang River of Pumiao of Yongning County is called Yongjiang River. Nanning Harbor, which is regarded as the leading harbor along the waterway of Xijiang River and one of the major pivot harbors of inland rivers of China, is an important component of the passages to sea for the Southwest China. It shoulders the tasks of collection and distribution of materials for Nanning and neighboring areas, regional foreign export of Guangxi and transportation of partial cargoes from Nanning-Kumming Railway. From waterway, it can lead to Longzhou, Baise, Guigang, Wuzhou, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macao. Major waterways are Nanning-Wuzhou, Nanning-Guangzhou, Nanning-Baise, Nanning-Hong Kong (Macao) etc.

Urban Traffic  The communication network in the urban area of Nanning City is perfected day by day. There have been available of a framework of four circular traffic roads in the city respectively of the 1^st ring road, the 2^nd ring road, the express ring road and the outer expressway. At present, there are 36 passenger traffic service stations in the city (including seven counties), totally providing with 754 lines of internal and external passenger service, 3035 regular buses of operation, 25 freight transportation service stations and 27651 vehicles of cargo service. In addition, 50 internal lines of part-load cargo service and 6 trans-province lines cargo service respectively to Shenzhen, Zhanjiang, Foshan, Guangzhou, Guiyang and Kunming have been opened. In Nanning, luxurious passenger buses of direct-arrival service connect all neighboring large and medium cities, Hong Kong, Macao as well as Hanoi and Langson of Vietnam.

Urban Public Transport

Taxi  There are 9 taxi companies now in Nanning approximately with 3700 taxies that are in different colors but with unified meters and overhead lights. Starting distance is 2km while the starting fares vary from RMB5, RMB6 to RMB7 based on the conditions of the taxi. The rate of fare is RMB1.6/km. Taxies are available of taxi stands on major streets where taxies can stop within the range of 5m. The name of the taxi company and hot line of administration for customers' complaints are printed on the taxi.

Buses  The public transport of Nanning City is very advanced. It has introduced Hong Kong White Horse Group to incorporate with Nanning Public Transport Corporation in establishing joint-venture Nanning White Horse Group Public Transport Company Ltd. At present, there are four public transport companies in Nanning City having 2050 units of on-service buses. The buses implement the self-service ticketing. The ordinary fare is RMB 1 while RMB 2 for air-conditioned buses. Passengers with IC card shall have certain discount. Operation starts at 5a.m and ends at 12p.m at most.
