With the current trend, till 2010, the bilateral trading volume will beyond doubt achieve the goal of USD 200 billion set by H.E. Mr. Hu Jintao, President of China.
With the increasingly deepened economic and trading cooperation between the two sides, H.E. Premier Wen Jiabao of China advocated that an annual China-ASEAN Expo be held in Nanning, Guangxi, China, which was positively received by state leaders of the 10 ASEAN Countries. In accordance with the actual progress of the construction of the CAFTA, the 2nd Expo will take practical efforts to establish a more professional exposition, so as to keep pace with the tariff reduction program within the CAFTA. For facilitating the participation of guests, the 2nd Expo will put more efforts in inviting professional visitors in line with the unique characteristics of each exhibit category, well conduct pre-matching of trade and projects, upgrade the existing venues and construct new exhibition halls, simplify procedures of issuing passes, offer convenient transportation, provide temporary direct chartered flight services, and optimize environment for business talks, etc., in doing which we are sure that you may experience and feel in person our efforts and sincerity.
Within only 2 years, the newly-born China-ASEAN Expo is now an international state-level exposition. Although we are taking sustainable efforts, you might have encountered inconveniences caused by our inadequacy of experiences and supporting facilities, etc. We hereby extend to you our sincere apologies. Next year will mark the 15th anniversary of the establishment of dialogue partner relations between China and ASEAN. The construction of the CAFTA will be speeded up, and the tariff reduction program will cover more categories of commodities. The 3rd China-ASEAN Expo will set up more specialized themes, conduct pre-matching of trade and projects more effectively, and provide optimized supporting services.
