Foreign currencies

A visitor into China with foreign currencies equivalent to more than USD$5000 are required by Chinese law to file a report with the Chinese Customs Service.

A visitor out of China may carry foreign currencies equivalent to no more than USD$5000; In case of the carried foreign currencies equivalent to more than USD$5000, the person concerned is not allowed to exit unless he or she surrenders the Customs Declaration Form filled out for his or her previous entry into the country, or the certificate of permit issued by the Bank or the Foreign Exchange Administration in this regard.

Renminbi

A visitor may carry no more than RMB٤6, 000 through China customs. If the amount exceeds RMB٤6,000, the person concerned is not allowed to enter or exit the country.

Gold ornaments

A visitor may bring gold or gold products in reasonable amount and for personal use only, which shall be declared with the Custom Service before they may be exempted from customs duty, For gold and gold products in reasonable amount but more than personal use, they are deemed as imported goods subject to import duty. The Customs Service will, based on the instrument of ratification issued by the People's Bank of China, impose duty on the above articles for their exit of the country.

Presswork, audio & video products, and religious facilities

Visitors carrying presswork, audio or video products through the customs are required by Chinese law to file a report with the Chinese Customs Service and subject them to the customs supervision. With the contents not prohibited from entry or exit, the presswork, audio or video products concerned may only be allowed to enter or exit from the country in reasonable amount and for personal use only. Those in beyond the reasonable amount will be returned to the original place.

No person is allowed to carry or mail any presswork or audio & video product prohibited by Chinese law to enter or exit from the country.

Religious presswork, audio or video products may only be allowed to enter into this country in reasonable amount and for personal use only. Those in beyond reasonable amount are prohibited from entry.

For the audio & video products to be imported for exhibition and display, the sponsor of the exhibition is responsible for processing the application for such importation, and submitting the catalog and samples of the articles concerned to Customs Service for examination. For administration purpose, the Customs Service may categorize these articles as temporarily imported goods.ˇ±

Cultural relics

Any cultural relic brought by a traveler into the country shall be reported at the customs on a Customs Declaration Form, with its returning abroad being noted thereafter.

Any cultural relic brought by a traveler out of the country shall be declared with the Customs Service. The Customs Service may allow the exit of the article concerned upon the examination of the wax seal suffixed by the culture administrative authorities and the unified invoice for international sale of cultural relics, or the certificate of export permit issued by the culture administrative authorities.
