With the full support of the Chinese and ASEAN heads of state/government, the 7th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) was successfully concluded. H.E. Jia Qinglin, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, H.E. Boediono, Vice President of Indonesia, H.E. Asang LAOLY, Vice Prime Minister of Lao PDR and H.E. Truong Vinh Trong, Vice Prime Minister of Vietnam personally presented the 7th CAEXPO and the 7th China-ASEAN Business & Investment Summit (CABIS), who were joined by the ministerial-level officials of commerce, energy and finance of China and the ASEAN countries, representatives of international organizations, chairpersons/presidents of chambers of commerce and world-renowned entrepreneurs.

The 7th CAEXPO, as the first session held upon the completion of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA), was deemed a milestone in the history of friendly exchanges between China and the ASEAN. Via this platform, enterprises of China and the 10 ASEAN countries shared the business opportunities and tangible benefits brought about by the CAFTA construction. The 7th CAEXPO made a record-high trading volume that topped US$1.712 billion, an increase of 3.5% over last year. Altogether 2,200 enterprises participated as exhibitors, using 4,600 booths, up by 15%. Exhibiting enterprises of Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR and Chinese Taiwan used 3,379 booths, and among the 1221 booths occupied by international enterprises, 1,178 ones were for the ASEAN companies, all of which were the highest figures over the 7 sessions. 46 investment promotion programs were arranged, where 135 international economic cooperation projects totally valued at US$6.69 billion were signed, growing by 3% over last session. Among them, 58 projects were inked between China and the ASEAN countries, with a total investment volume of US$ 2.663 billion. The CAFTA's establishment offers new opportunities for China and the ASEAN. It also presents new opportunities for Asia and the world as a whole.
