Thai Trade Brief in November 2017

According to Thai customs, the export and import volume of Thai cargos hit 420.6 billion USD from January to November in 2017, up by 12.3% compared with the same period of the previous year (compared with 2016, similarly hereinafter) with the export volume reaching 216.25 billion USD, up by 10.5% and import volume rising by 14.4% to 204.35 billion USD, which resulting in trade surplus of 11.9 billion USD, falling by 30.8%.
In November, the export and import volume of Thai cargos reached 41.33 billion USD, increasing by 15.2% with the export volume arriving at 21.41 billion USD, up by 15.2% and import volume hitting 19.92 billion USD, up by 15.2%, which representing trade surplus of 1.5 billion USD, up by 16.6%.
The export and import volume of cargos between China and Thailand hit 67.65 billion USD from January to November, up by 13%. Thailand exported 26.76 billion USD to China, up by 26.4%, accounting for 12.4% of Thai total export volume and imported 40.89 billion USD from China, up by 5.7%, accounting for 20% of Thai total import volume. Thai trade deficit with China reached 14.13 billion USD, dropping by 19.2%.
As Thailand’s largest trade partner, China was its largest export market and largest source of import by the end of November 2017.
