Malaysian Trade Brief of November 2017

According to Malaysia Secretariat of Economy, the export and import volume of Malaysian cargos hit 376.05 billion USD from January to November in 2017, up by 15.1% compared with the same period of the previous year (compared with 2016, similarly hereinafter) with the export volume reaching 198.49 billion USD, up by 14.7% and import volume reaching 177.57 billion USD, up by 15.5%, which resulting in trade surplus of 20.92 billion USD, up by 8.7%.
In November, the export and import volume of Malaysia cargos reached 37.68 billion USD, up by 19.1% with the export volume rising by18.8% to 20.03 billion USD and import volume reaching 17.64 billion USD, up by 19.5%, which representing trade surplus of 2.39 billion USD, increasing by 13.4%.
The export and import volume of cargos between China and Malaysia hit 61.37 billion USD from January to November, up by 16.7%. Malaysia exported 26.59 billion USD to China, up by 23.8%, which accounted for 13.4% of Malaysian total export volume, up by 1.0%. It imported 34.78 billion USD from China, up by 11.7%, which accounted for 19.6% of Malaysian total import volume, decreasing by 0.7%. Malaysian trade deficit with China reached 8.19 billion USD, dropping by 15.2%.
China was the second largest export market and largest source of import by the end of October 2017.
