The theme of the opening ceremony is “Illuminating the Co-built Silk Roads for Shared Aspirations”, meaning that China and ASEAN use the CAEXPO platform to jointly build the Belt and Road, light the lamp of peace, prosperity, opening-up, innovation and civilization with vision and hope for a brighter future of the China-ASEAN Community of Shared Destiny. The VCR played before the inaugural ceremony showed the moments that people from different countries are making wishes in front of the lamps and pictures of cooperation and exchanges, prosperity and development, advanced science and technology and happy life, all of which were poured into the Wish Lamps. Later, 16 lovely boys and girls holding the Wish Lamps walked to the stage, and put them on the podiums next to the VVIPs on the stage.

“I now declare the 14th China-ASEAN Expo and the 14th China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit Open.” After Vice Premier Zhang opened the two grand events, 16 VVIPs lighted and then let them “flow” down into the “rivers” running through China, ASEAN and Kazakhstan. In the meantime, 42 children standing across the seating areas lighted Wish Lamps on their hands, which were all risen in the Osmanthus Hall, creating a beautiful scenery that predicts the bright future and vision of China, ASEAN and other countries along the Belt and Road.
