Indonesia, the world’s largest island nation, is becoming a hot spot for Chinese companies to invest in.
The China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat and the Consulate General of Indonesia in Guangzhou jointly held a special promotion conference on investment in Indonesia and ASEAN in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on May 31.
The event provided practical advice for Chinese enterprises to invest in Indonesia, welcoming more than 150 representatives from Indonesian industrial parks, Chinese enterprises in Indonesia, as well as enterprises and representatives of chambers of commerce from Hong Kong, Shanghai, Guangdong, Fujian, and Guangxi who are interested in investing in Indonesia.
Consul General of Indonesia in Guangzhou, China, Gustanto said that CAEXPO is a good platform to introduce Indonesian investment policies and business opportunities to Chinese entrepreneurs.
Vice Secretary General of the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat Yang Yanyan discussed the current economic and trade relations between China and Indonesia, Indonesia’s investment environment, key areas of investment cooperation between China and Indonesia, and the issues that need to be paid attention to when Chinese enterprises "go outside" for direct investment in Indonesia.
Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board Ikmal Lukman said that China currently is the third largest source of investment for Indonesia, with the investment mainly focused on metals, machinery, electronics, electricity, natural gas, telecommunications, and other fields.
