As a member of ASEAN, Cambodia enjoys tremendous benefits from China-ASEAN and bilateral ties with China. As the major trading partner of Cambodia, China has become the largest foreign investor in Cambodia, with an annual investment exceeding USD 1 billion. In 2018, the bilateral trade between Cambodia and China registered USD 7.39 billion, an increase of 27.6% over the same period the previous year. As the propeller for the sustainable and rapid development of China-ASEAN trade and economic cooperation, the China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) has been successfully held for 15 sessions, playing a positive role in promoting Cambodia-China friendly cooperation and the joint pursuit of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Celebrate the beginning of the second 60 years of friendly ties and deepen win-win cooperation
2019 marks the beginning of the second 60-year diplomatic relationship between Cambodia and China. The traditional friendship between both countries are ever lasting and stronger than before. The increasingly closer cooperation in various fields has achieved fruitful results. Taking ASEAN as priority and strategic focus on opening up and cooperation, Guangxi province further enhanced friendly ties and active cooperation with Cambodia. A Guangxi business delegation with 20 members visited Phnom Penh and attended the 2018 Guangxi-Cambodia Technology Transfer Fair. Entrepreneurs from Cambodia and Guangxi gathered together and explored cooperation opportunities. Meanwhile, Guilin of Guangxi and Siem Reap of Cambodia established friendly ties.
The Cambodian government attaches great importance to CAEXPO and has delegated quite a few of senior officials to attend the event. Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen participated to the opening conference of the 15th CAEXPO and addressed the audience. He and Chinese Vice Premier Han Zheng jointly attended the opening ceremony of "City of Charm" of Cambodia. Deputy Prime Minister Hor Namhong toured around the exhibition hall. Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, who has attended CAEXPO for 11 times, stressed that the China-ASEAN Expo is an important factor in deepening ASEAN-China cooperation, and Cambodia has also reaped significant achievements at this platform.
For the previous 15 sessions of the expo, Cambodia took up 1652 booths with 868 enterprises participation in total. Cambodia served as the Country of Honor in the 5th and 15th CAEXPO. In addition, Kampong Thom Province of Cambodia was awarded the best "City of Charm" of the 15th CAEXPO, attracting a large number of visitors for appreciation and photo-taking.
The 15th CAEXPO witnessed Cambodia’s great results in attracting investment. The investment projects exceeding USD 100 million are as followed: China-Cambodia Industrial Park in Cambodia Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone, USD 500 million; the comprehensive development project of Cambodian cassava industry, USD 140 million; Qiquan Biomass Cogeneration Project in Qilu (Cambodia) Special Economic Zone, USD 120 million; China-Cambodia Huanjia Special Economic Zone, USD 107 million; China National Technical Import and Export Corporation and Cambodia signed a 100M (DC) photovoltaic power plant in Kandal province of Cambodia, with a total investment of USD100 million. During the exposition, Cambodia held a promotional seminar on trade, investment and tourism. Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia, Cambodia Union Development Group Co.,LTD, universities of Cambodia signed 12 MOUs with Wuhan Business University, China Railway Infrastructure Engineering Corporation, etc.
Jointly welcome the new CAEXPO and forge ahead for common prosperity
The 16th CAEXPO will be held in Nanning on September 21-24, 2019. With the theme of “Co-building the Belt and Road and Jointly Drawing the Vision of Cooperation”, the organizer will continue to invite the leaders of China and ASEAN countries to attend this high-level event. The exhibition will highlight the China-ASEAN Strategic Partnership Vision 2030, focusing on trade, investment, capacity cooperation, digital economy, S&T, finance, E-commerce, tourism and other aspects, and step up efforts to build an important platform for deepening exchanges and cooperation between China and ASEAN countries including Cambodia.
The exhibition area for Cambodia will remain the same as last year. The commodity pavilion occupies 145 booths. The "City of Charm" belongs to Kampot Province this year. The exhibiting products and services are mainly agricultural products and foodstuffs, jewelry, handicraft, furniture, wooden products, textiles and clothing, tourism, trade and investment services.
Move forward hand in hand and achieve greater future. The 16th CAEXPO is committed to contributing to the common prosperity of Cambodia and China. We look forward to another new height to be obtained by Cambodia and CAEXPO.
