In 2018, China’s new direct investment in non-financial sectors in Thailand stood at $640 million, a year-on-year increase of 26.9%. By the end of 2018, Chinese enterprises had signed contracts for engineering projects in Thailand with a contract value of $28.1 billion, and the volume business reached $21.81 billion. The China-ASEAN Expo, as a key platform for friendly exchanges, economic and trade cooperation and collaboration in multiple fields between China and ASEAN countries, has contributed to the in-depth exchanges and cooperation between Thailand and China.

Mutual benefit and common prosperity

Geographically as neighbors, Thailand and China have cultural communication and close ties. The peoples of the two countries enjoy profound and long-standing friendship. In recent years, the bilateral exchanges and cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, science and technology, education, and culture have been advancing steadily. The “Belt and Road” initiative offers a new opportunity for the common development of Thailand and China. As Thailand-China high-speed rail project, China-Thailand industrial park and other cooperation projects are being implemented, the bilateral cooperation in various fields reaches a stage of rapid development. Many China-Thailand projects promoted by China-ASEAN Expo, such as the EPC project of residential housing by the National Housing Authority of Thailand and the expansion project of Uthai Thani Sugar Mill in Thailand, are the prime examples.

Besides, Thai rubber products, cosmetics products, light industry products and arts and crafts, etc. are widely praised. Many exhibitors saw a wealth of orders, and the exhibits were sold out.
