In 2018, the bilateral trade volume between the Philippines and China was 55.67 billion US dollars, an increase of 8.5% year-on-year. China has become the Philippines’ largest trading partner, the largest source of imports and the fourth largest export market. As an important platform for friendly exchanges, economic and trade promotion and multi-field cooperation between China and ASEAN countries, China-ASEAN Expo has played an active role in the friendly cooperation and common development between the Philippines and China.

The Philippines and China continue to expand cooperation in various fields
In recent years, benefited from the “Belt and Road” initiative, the Philippines-China cooperation in political diplomacy, economic and trade exchanges, cultural exchanges and other fields have entered the fast lane. The relationship between the two countries has continued to consolidate and deepen, bearing fruitful results.
The Philippines government attaches great importance to China-ASEAN Expo, and showcases the Philippines’ national image as well as achievements and business opportunities in all aspects via the Expo. The number of the Philippines companies participating in the Expo increases, and more and more products from the Philippines enter the Chinese market through China-ASEAN Expo. At the 15th China-ASEAN Expo, the Philippines exhibited for the first time in a reserved pavilion, focused on the most advantageous industries in the country, such as food, agricultural products, handicrafts, investment information and consulting services. A total of 160 trade talks were held with China and other ASEAN countries.
During the 15th China-ASEAN Expo, the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Philippines hosted the Philippines Business Opportunity Promotion Conference. During the Expo, the Philippines exhibitors could use AliPay to sell exhibits. That was the first case of the Philippines exhibitors using China’s mobile payment in a China’s foreign-related exhibition, which was a great breakthrough.
A vision for cooperation is developed for the new China-ASEAN Expo
The 16th China-ASEAN Expo will be held in Nanning from September 21 to September 24, 2019. In this year’s Expo, the Philippines will use 48 booths in Hall 12 of District D to display products; the “City of Charm” is General Santos, with an exhibition area of 180 square meters.
In addition to meetings between leaders and the opening ceremony, high-end exchange activities of political and business sectors will be held. The Philippines business community will have an opportunity to meet face-to-face with political leaders from different countries and obtain high-end information.
