The 6th CAEXPO Bulletin on Import Duty, Import VAT and Consumption Tax upon Exhi

Source:     Time:2009-08-12 16:55:08

To attract more ASEAN enterprises to the CAEXPO for exploring the international market, tax preferences have been offered to the exhibitors at the previous years. To be more specific, according to the regulations of the Ministry of Finance of China, from 2005 to 2010, those exhibits for post-event sale, if in reasonable amount, shall be exempted from import duties; Furthermore, in light of that the CAEXPO is still a young trade fair, the CAEXPO Secretariat has provided incentives to ASEAN exhibitors by paying for them the import value-added tax (VAT) and consumption tax as well as the import duty for their excessive exhibits. Statistics show that CAEXPO Secretariat has totally paid RMB4.7276 million (or USD698,300) for the above-mentioned purposes, with that of the 5th CAEXPO alone, USD363,000.

As the tax preferences offered by the Ministry of Finance of China will expire soon, ASEAN exhibitors of the 6th CAEXPO shall observe the relevant laws and regulations of China, paying the import VAT and consumption tax themselves. However, to help ASEAN enterprises cope with the current financial crisis, this Secretariat, though facing a tight budget, will strive to provide appropriate subsidies to the ASEAN exhibiting enterprises in tax payment. The relevant tax policies for those exhibits for post-event sale are as follows:

Except the exhibits entitled to exemption from import duties in line with regulations of the Ministry of Finance of China, this Secretariat will pay the above-mentioned duties and taxes, i.e. the import duty, the import VAT and consumption tax, for other exhibits. This policy is enjoyed by each of the non-Lao ASEAN exhibiting enterprise whose total sales volume not exceeding USD3000, and each Lao enterprise whose total sales volume not exceeding USD5000. For the extra volumes, the exhibitors shall pay deposits, the extra duties and taxes accordingly themselves. The sales volume of exhibits shall be subject to the examination and approval of Customs authorities of China.
