The 11th China-ASEAN Expo kicked off in Nanning, Guangxi on Sept. 16 and more than a hundred Vietnamese enterprises came to the Expo. As with the previous Expos, Vietnam is the country with most exhibitors.
This May, thousands of Vietnamese criminals conducted vandalism to many enterprises of China and other countries, which caused casualties and property losses. Now over four months have passed, many Vietnamese exhibitors said that the conflict had little effect on their businesses now.
"The previous unpleasant things happened before will not affect the economies of both countries." said a brand candy exhibitor.
Chen Dongsheng is a rubber exhibitor from Vietnam and also an ethnic Chinese. He has attended the Expo for ten consecutive years. Chen said that the Expo had brought many benefits for him. Now about 30% products of his company are sold to China. Talking of the “unpleasant event” happened between the China and Vietnam, Chen said “Economy is different from politics" and felt there was almost no impact on his business and
Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh stated during the opening ceremony that Vietnam, as China's neighbor, has always been an participant and staunch supporter of China-ASEAN Expo and Vietnam will take more efforts to strengthen the friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and ASEAN countries.
Statistics show that in 2013, the total value of the trade and investment contracts signed by Vietnamese enterprises during China - ASEAN Expo is approximately $ 120 million.
A reporter of Saigon Liberation Daily gave his own analysis. “Although many unpleasant things had happened before, but I think that this Expo platform can join the enterprises and people of both countries and peoples very easily."
A local scholar Xie Hui believes that despite the estrangements happened between China-Vietnam relations, the trade platform of Expo can surely promote and improve the bilateral relations.
