| The 5th CAEXPO will be convened in Nanning,
Guangxi, China from October 22 to 25, 2008. Co-sponsored by the
departments in charge economy and trade of China and the 10 ASEAN
counties as well as the ASEAN Secretariat, the CAEXPO is an
international grand trade event at state level. And the Investment
Promotion Program arranged during the event has become an effective
platform for the investment cooperation between China and the ASEAN
countries. A grand event backed by free trade and liberalized investment: Thanks to the CAFTA tariff reduction program, open trade in service and transparent investment mechanism, flows of goods, services and capitals within the CAFTA enjoy more freedom and conveniences.? The CAEXPO, closely following the construction pace of the CAFTA, forms a platform of win-win cooperation between China and the ASEAN. Investment incentives creates a market with huge potentials: Over the previous years, the actual investment volume from the ASEAN countries in China records USD3 billion annually. And the ASEAN is also one of the international receivers of the concessional loans provided by the Chinese government. In the coming 3 years, China will provide the developing countries with concessional loans and officially supported export credits worth USD10 billion, among which, one thirds will be provided for the ASEAN countries. In addition, another concessional loan of USD5 billion will be used for supporting China-based enterprises to invest in the ASEAN. Attract international capitals and build up a sound meeting place for foreign business professionals: Cooperation projects will be promoted during the CAEXPO, to form an effective channel for foreign entrepreneurs to invest in China. Meanwhile, investment projects of the developed economies like the EU and U.S.A. will be introduced, thus to propel the economic and trading cooperation among enterprises of different countries/regions. The previous 4 CAEXPOs yielded rich economic and trading outcomes: More than 12,000 investment cooperation projects were collected from home and abroad. Total investment volume of the international cooperation projects contracted reached USD16.1 billion. At the 4th CAEXPO, 182 international economic cooperation projects were contracted, worth totally USD6.154 billion, and 138 Chinese domestic cooperation projects were signed, valued at RMB58.214 billion, up 5.13% over the previous year. An access for the Chinese enterprises to invest in ASEAN Key Focuses： This pavilion themes on the overseas investing of Chinese enterprises, providing services in international project contracting, human resource cooperation, overseas processing trade, resource exploring and related financial services, and also invites investments for cities of China and the 10 ASEAN countries as well as various economic & technology development zones, promotes investment policies and environment and releases cooperation project information. During the CAEXPO, a briefing conference on investment cooperation projects with ASEAN and related networking program will be jointly sponsored the Department of Foreign Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of Commerce of China (MOFCOM) and the China International Contractors Association (CHINCA), to facilitate face-to-face communication between project contracting enterprises of China and competent departments of the ASEAN countries. Key Focuses： 500 projects on the Agricultural Applicable Technology & Transformation for Agricultural Scientific and Technological Achievements program over the previous 5 years will be showcased, concerning agricultural planting & animal husbandry technology, agricultural by-products storage/processing/value-added technology, agricultural bio-technology, modern agricultural equipment, etc. And to cater to the ASEAN markets, the new and improved agricultural spices, agricultural bio-product intensive processing equipment, small agricultural machinery and agricultural bio-fertilizers will also be displayed. The Promotion Conference on Agricultural Applicable Technology of China will be held, to promote technical transfer and cooperation between China and the 10 ASEAN countries. Facts of the Previous CAEXPOs: The previous 4 CAEXPOs totally showcased 1,916 projects collected around China, among which, 164 ones were contracted, worth RMB2.587 billion. Over 310,000 person times of visitors were attracted to this exhibition pavilion, and 6,000 person times of visitors of them came from the ASEAN countries. It thus promoted the scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation between China and ASEAN. (I) Theme Exhibition of R & D Achievements of SMEs The 1st Theme Exhibition of R & D Achievements of SMEs exhibited 307 projects, covering 6 fields as electronic information, optical, mechanical & electric integration, bio-pharmaceutics, new materials, energy, resource and environment. (II) Theme Exhibition of Advanced & Applicable Technology The 2nd Theme Exhibition of Advanced & Applicable Technology totally showcased 414 projects and products in this regard, covering 6 fields like agricultural planting, animal husbandry & agricultural produce processing, bio-pharmaceutics, new materials, energy saving & environmental friendly products, electronic information and machinery & electronics. 66 projects were contracted, valued at MRMB 712.04 million, and a total commodity trading volume of RMB29.5 million was concluded. (III) Exhibition of Agricultural Applicable Technology & China Spark Program Achievements of 20 Years The 3rd Exhibition of Agricultural Applicable Technology & China Spark Program Achievements of 20 Years showcased 676 projects included in the Spark Program that were collected from all parts of China. (IV) Exhibition of Agricultural Applicable Technology & Transformation for Agricultural Scientific and Technological Achievements The 4th Exhibition of Agricultural Applicable Technology & Transformation for Agricultural Scientific and Technological Achievements totally display 519 agricultural applicable technologies, focusing on agricultural new species, agro-based product processing, agricultural machinery, energy conservation & discharge reduction program in rural areas, agricultural ecology, etc. Comprehensively showcase the unique city images and business opportunities of the cities of China and the 10 ASEAN countries. Brief Introduction: The negotiation conferences on investment cooperation projects, one of major parts of the Investment Promotion Program held during the 5th CAEXPO, aims to build up a sound platform for business matching and create a meeting place for project owners and investors from China and the ASEAN countries.
